Two things can be true. Haunting Adeline is a great book. But that doesn’t mean it should be made into a movie.

I've been thinking about why BookTok is suddenly obsessed with standalone Villain POVs: no redemption arcs, no apologies. Maybe we're just exhausted by the expectation that everyone has to 'fix' themselves to be worthy of a story.

Writing Olympic War at this desk—fueled by way too much Lavender Earl Grey Tea—made me realize how much pressure we put on characters (and ourselves) to be perfectly healed. Sometimes, the most honest thing you can be is a little messy and entirely unapologetic.

@donnylb told me I had to check out the food court at Comerica Park, and honestly? He was right. We found this shawarma spot, and there is something deeply comforting about eating a massive bowl of hummus and cabbage in the middle of a loud, chaotic stadium.

They love to romanticize the 'multi-hyphenate' life. Here’s the actual reality.

Before: Out in the world, looking unbothered.
After: Hoodie on, laptop open, actively relying on my t-shirt to remind me to drink water and take deep breaths.

Building an indie bookstore, writing books, and running a podcast doesn't mean I'm constantly in 'boss mode' (honestly, gross). Most days, it means I'm just trying to find a quiet corner on the couch to decompress and get things done without burning out.

I wouldn't trade this weird, unconventional life for anything. But let's stop pretending it's all aesthetic coffee shop writing sessions.
